A new batik design is born!
Luki is putting on the first design .. she stamps it on with wax.. then the whole cloth will be dyed again. If the wax is now removed, the area exposed will be the original colour of the cloth ie white.
Another day, tons of adventures!!
So today i really felt that i would be doing a very short blog... you know business as usual, went volunteering, came home, went to bed... no way! lots of exciting stuff to report...
First i biked to the Office... i bike a lot ... but here i felt like the very gravity was different.. i was puffing after the first ten minutes... At first i thought it was simply the heat but then i realized my bike-that-was-just-tuned has a wonky wheel that catches the brake each cycle!! oh, boy!!
Ladies chortled when i went by... well, you can imagine the image: red faced, old white woman racing by on a bike.......
But it was a good way to travel... i got to see the termite nest up close and personal, talk to the kids as we went by... very nice.
Upon arriving at the Office, people looked at me strangely ...'I rode my bike in that's why i look like this...' i reassured them. To make things worse, when i splashed cold water on my face i was a bit enthusiastic and pratically drowned myself ... hee!hee!
Today i beaded with about 5 ladies coming and going... they were interested in what i was doing and wanted to learn how to macrame... so i got two necklaces going...
For a break i pinged my brother, Stephen in Texas for a chat!! I introduced him around and show him the babies!! How cool is that!?!
Then there was a staff meeting to which the volunteers were invited. We heard about all the work they are doing. VEG gives out loans right now to about 79 people... it sounds so well organized. This will be a topic that i will do more research on and present to you at a later date... There was also a report on the Beads and Batiks... i was proud to have given an idea...
A broken needle was found in a product and this is a real no-no for obvious reasons... I suggested that they have a 'inspected by... ' stamp that they could put on the tag and then have the person who had inspected it sign. Everyone thought this was a great idea...
Lunch came after the meeting... and it was so good i asked for the recipe for you... especially you, Clara, over in Burkina Faso!! I had this last time and cooked it for everyone when i got back.
Mmmm! Yummy!

Back at the office i was hard at work when a sudden ROAR! was heard outside the windows! I just about fell out of my seat.. 'What was that!!??' i demanded. All around me beaming faces cried out ... 'Ghana scored!!'
...so we stopped for a beer at the White House to see the end of the game...
On the way there ...everywhere there was a tv people were thronged ... glued to the game. Hope you were watching, Albert!!
I got a ride back in the truck... my bike nestled in the back!! Yeah, yeah .. I know... What a wimp.....
Hey, tomorrow is another day!!
